You can set up as many users as you like to manage your content, giving each user as much or as little access as you want. They can write content and save it but if you want the final say on what gets published you can still retain control. Umbraco can send you an email when one of your content "writers" creates or updates content on your site. You can OK or Cancel their updates there and then - no messing about!
